WHO ARE WE?

'Baan Phraporn' or House of Blessing is located at Doisaket district about 30 minutes from the city of Chiangmai. The Home, entrusted under the loving care of Pastor Rachen and Khun Jib Nopsiri in 1999, has the vision to care for needy children from tribal groups, mostly from the northern part of Thailand --- and develop them to become the future leaders of their own people groups.

From a group of about 60 children, the Home grew fast in size and numbers in just a few years. As poverty, AIDS, and drug-related problems are increasing steadily, more and more children have been brought to the Home seeking help.

Today, there are now 125 children being cared for at Baan Phraporn -- mainly tribal children ranging from 7 months to 21 years old who have been orphaned and abandoned. They come from nine different tribal groups namely, the Karen, Lahu, Akha, Lisu, Lawa, Yao, Thai yai, Hmong, and mountain Chinese tribes. In addition, we have started accomodating babies abandoned by their Thai parents since 2005.

STATEMENT OF NEEDS:

The Northern part of Thailand is known as one of the most diverseand poverty stricken region. This is mostly due to the refugees’ situation from Burma, the big number of displaced people, prevalanceof HIV/AIDS, human and drugs trafficking leaving a lot of children in hopeless and in desperate conditions.

Chiang Mai Province is very close to the border of Burma and Laos. There are more than 20 hill tribes that live along the border. This region is notorious for drug and human trafficking for many year now and still is, at present. Many of the hill tribes are not alled to travel to nearby provinces since they do not have Thai identification and they are not considered Thai citizens yet. Many of them still live in poverty and have little education which makes the risk of human slavery, child labor and prostitution very high. Many of them do not know what their future will be and live without hope and peace.

In Baan Praoorn, we are committed to responsed to these problems by way of providing the physical, spiritual needs of the tribal children who came from these backgrounds and are integrated in our Home. By God's grace, we do our best to help each child to have a better life and a future.

 STATEMENT OF OUTCOMES:

As Bann Phraporn tries to meet their needs. We teach them Christian values and faith in God to provide them with a strong moral and spiritual foundation in life.

Every aspect of their life, we believe that each child will respond positively to this blessing and will lead them to have a good life and a better future.

Finally with the love and support that we, in Bann Phraporn family give, we believe that they will grow emotionally and socially healthy-and become good contributing citizens in the community and in Thai socisty.
