CONQUERING THE COLD MOUNTAINS
Paris Espana.
On December 1 to 3, the Evangelism Team of ‘Christjak Tharn Phraporn Chiangmai’ headed by our dear pastor, Ajan Rachen Nopsiri, braved the cold winter in Chiangrai and ministered to the villagers in Baan Thama-o, Tambol Maelan, about two and a half hours drive from the city of Chiangmai.
Our evangelistic team, composed of 31 members, mostly our young people, camped at the compound of ‘Christjak Rom Phrakun’ for 3 days and 2 nights. We billed the event, Christmas Heng Phraporn (meaning, The Blessing of Christmas). We sang Christmas carols; our young girls danced to festive music and together with our young boys they performed hand mimes; and raffle prizes were given at the end of each evening. But most important of all, our oldest living evangelist in Thailand, Ajan Saman Wanakiat preached the Word of God with signs and wonders following!
The 1st day was obviously a trial some for us. The trip going to the village was not smooth due to unexpected minor repairs needed for our old, small van while traveling. Then, the poor sound system during the actual evangelistic night and lack of equipment to show the film made our young boys terribly busy. But the 2nd day turned out better. There were more people who came, and more than 30 people received the Lord and asked for prayers. And more blessings came on the 3rd day. That night, so many old village people received miracles from God --- a lame, old man walked away from his steel walker, a middle-aged woman claimed she could now hear sounds, those suffering from body pains said they were healed instantly, and an old woman who walked with her back bent started to walk straight. Surely, God laid His hands on them!
“Our families will now be Christians.” The old woman said. “What do we need to show? We will begin to attend the church this Sunday. Do we need to show our Thai identity cards to become member,” the old woman asked. Everyone who heard laughed with joy. We ended the meeting signing victory songs to proclaim the glory of the Lord.
He is awesome!
